One in six Americans is Hispanic — a fact that not even some pollsters capture because a majority of this ethnic group self-identifies as “white.” Because they’re so often under-counted and their heritage so often unappreciated, many marketers miss the opportunity to connect with this audience by making their messages resonate with Latino culture.
How to break through this cultural barrier and forge connections with this fast-growing and influential audience, is the subject of our April AAF-DC “What’s On Tap,” filmed live at WeWork in Chinatown.
Joe Camacho, CMO of Sabio Mobile, a Guamanian Hispanic originally from San Diego, CA, speaks from the heart when he warns marketers, “don’t make fun of my mama,” unless you want to “throw down.” In all seriousness, he intones, it’s really all about respect. That, and a great mobile strategy wouldn’t hurt.
