Literally the pages on which the Voice is written wouldn’t exist without BRINK Media Partner Josh Belhumeur. For this and countless other contributions to the DC ad community, Josh was awarded the AAF District 2 Crystal Prism Award to kick off this year’s ADDY Awards. Given how integral Josh is to communicating the work of AAF DC, the real feat was how the awards committee managed to keep the honor a secret, leaving the honoree “fairly speechless.”
Jodie Warren of MDB Communications, president of AAF DC, announced the award via a video testimonial. She noted that, though Josh only arrived in DC in 2010, he quickly made a substantial impact on the club, first envisioning and in many cases executing AAF DC’s communications infrastructure. Said Warren, “Under his guidance, communications built a website, created a blog, developed numerous creative campaigns to support the ADDYs, ADWKDC, golf tournaments and Behind the Downs ‘Big Game’ advertising events.” His efforts over six years also supported the day-to-day business of AAF DC, including email support, web development, social media, and event marketing.
“Perhaps his biggest success: Josh successfully grew the communications function into an in-house agency in the form of a committee,” she added. Once a committee of one, the communications committee now numbers eight regular members and an extended group of 15. “Today that committee is executing Josh’s vision, building a systematic volunteer mechanism to execute and expand AAF DC’s membership,” successfully building a stronger marketing approach. Not coincidentally, while Josh tended the Communications Committee, AAF DC won the American Advertising Federation’s Ad Club of the Year award in 2014.
Join us in congratulating Josh on a well-deserved honor.
