The deadline to enter this year’s American Advertising Awards for the DC chapter has just been extended from Friday the 13th – traditionally a day to stay indoors and avoid ladders – to Friday, Jan. 20. Making the effort now to put your best creative work into the mix can put you into an unparalleled circle of excellence, and showcase it UP the ladder of success alongside the best agency work in the country.
Last year’s ADDY® Awards played host to more than 500 entries from 75 agencies, design firms, in-house marketing departments, freelancers, interactive firms, production companies and PR agencies, and they took home a treasure trove: 53 Gold and 62 Silver ADDY® awards, plus best of Category, Best in Public Service and Best of Show Awards.
Taking you “Back to the Future” – in an effort to tantalize your taste for victory – we have to mention USA TODAY’s “Back to the Future Replica Coverwrap,” which replicated the Oct. 22, 2015 edition of USA the film creators used in “Back to the Future Part II,” touted the sale of the complete movie set, and called readers to imagine a future without Parkinson’s. Best of Broadcast came from Marriott International for its “Two Bellmen,” a short action-comedy and Best of Public Service was captured by Edelman PR for “Salt at Work,” an online video for the American Heart Association.
Excellence also found itself in great company like SmithGifford, White64, Ogilvy Washington and RP3 Agency. As they will this year, last year’s top winners went on to be judged in the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition for creative excellence by its members nationwide – first matched with other winners at the District Two level with peers from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware in addition to Washington, DC. Local winners will be honored at a gala at the Newseum in Washington March 24th.
